What We Do

The Westbriar PTA is very busy all year long with a wide variety of programs, activities, staff support functions, outreach programs and more.  Here is just a snapshot of what we do and what your membership dues support.  You DO make a difference!

Programs Supported by PTA

• Grace Arts and Reflections
• Staff and coordinate after/before school activities: Science, Art, Drama, Hip-Hop, Spanish language classes and more
• Author/Illustrator visits to school for the entire student body
• Cultural Arts (Nana Puddin' Brass Rubbing Workshop, Laser Show, Reptiles Alive and more!)
• Patrol Leadership
• 6th Grade Celebration
• Spring/Winter Concert
• PTA volunteers plan and staff the Fall Festival, Family Fun Night, Bingo Night, Movie Night, Skate Night
• Field Trips are given $5,000 from the PTA operating budget.  This helps defray the costs for every student
• Maintenance of our school grounds   

Staff Support

• Work with children in the classrooms
• Serve as aides to the kindergarteners during lunch (1st quarter)
• Staff Field Day, Thanksgiving Lunch
• Fund staff development programs
• Assist the librarian
• Provide lunch one Monday afternoon a month for the teachers
• Organze and support Teacher Appreciation events
• Principal's discresionary fund is funded by PTA
• Water service is provided for the staff

Classroom Support

• Purchase of Smart Boards for every Classroom and new items for the media center
• Purchase of Flip Cameras for the upper grades
• Purchase of a new mobile Strategy Lab for every student's use
• Over $3,000 is given to teachers and specialists to purchase classroom school supplies
• Water service is supplied to the off campus classrooms

Goals for 2010-2011 School Year

• Audio response system 
• Flip video cameras for every classroom 
• New LCD projector bulbs
• Digital voice recorders to help with reading fluency  
• Flat screen monitor for lobby to run announcements and video of things our children are doing in school
• Automated sign-in system
