PTA Membership Has Its Priviledges

The number-one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more advantages.

National PTA, Virginia PTA and Fairfax Council PTA offer a variety of “member benefits” to PTA members from businesses and organizations. Many of these benefits are seasonal or event related, while others last for an entire membership year. It is important that all members be familiar with and able to take advantage of these “member benefits.”  Keeping your PTA membership card in your wallet will assist you in realizing these Benefits.

If you are a PTA Member, You...

Support your school. Members' dues and donations go to support many school programs and events such as Field Trips, Cultural Arts, Media Center Equipment, after-school enrichment activities and much more.  See What We Do to learn more about how the PTA supports Westbriar.

Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school. Westbriar PTA keeps you connected to all the important events. Weekly Falcon Express e-blasts and other news is available on the PTA website.

Discover Great Resources. The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.

Tap into a Network. PTA functions provide opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport and discuss parenting issues that are on your mind.

Watch yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you gain valuable experiences and personal confidence. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause.

Speak Up. Because PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions and more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

Help Your Child Succeed. PTA fosters parent involvement. Parent involvement has been proven by three decades of research to be the greatest predictor of student success.

Have Advocacy. Your all-inclusive national, state and local PTA membership supports advocacy on issues that benefit children and families. Examples include advocating at state and local levels on budget issues.

Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping to make positive changes.

Are a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
