Description:

Just like reading, writing and arithmetic, EVERYONE should know how to protect themselves from physical harm. However, this knowledge doesn't just come naturally--you need TRAINING

While a black belt and a long-term commitment to martial arts is not in the cards for everyone, there is a great deal of practical knowledge that can be learned by ANYONE in a very short amount of time.

Westbriar dad and PTA Martial Arts program instructor David Teitelbaum will conduct a 4-hour course over two 2-hour sessions, teaching the most important and fundamental principles of personal self-defense. The course will cover:

Awareness: Understanding the mindset that kids must have in order to recognize and respond to a dangerous situation;

Avoidance: Strategies for preventing an attack before it ever occurs;

Dis-Engagement: Practical techniques for escaping when grabbed, pulled, lifted up, held down;

Counterattack: Simple techniques to disable an attacker and cause maximum impact to facilitate escape.

Instructor: This program is taught by a Westbriar parent who is a certified 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.  Please click here to learn more about David Teitelbaum's martial arts credentials and background.

Mr. Teitelbaum focuses on teaching principles of self-defense, rather than teaching a laundry list of complicated techniques. In this way, he conveys the essential core of what a student needs to know, so there is minimal "memorization" and maximum retention.

Waiting List: If you are unable to enroll because all spaces are filled, please contact David Teitelbaum to be placed on the waiting list. If there is sufficient interest, we will schedule another session of the course. Alternatively, if you would like private instruction, or the course dates don't work for you, please contact David Teitelbaum at the link above.

Refund policy:  No Refunds--Sorry!
