Who: Westbriar students in 2^nd through 6^th grades. Beginners who have never played chess before and experienced players!

When: Westbriar Chess Club will be starting on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.  Classes will meet on Tuesdays in the cafeteria from 4:00 – 5:15 PM and will run for 15 weeks.

Why play chess: Chess is great mental exercise for children and involves multi-level critical thinking. Chess improves problem-solving skills and teaches concentration and self discipline. Chess promotes good sportsmanship. Chess is fun!

Who will teach: The Chess Club will be run under the direction of the U.S. Chess Center. The U.S. Chess Center will provide a well trained Chess teacher to teach the basics and advance strategies for the game of chess.

Cost: The cost is $80.00 ($75 for PTA members) and includes light snacks and end of the session pizza party.

If your child will not need the tee-shirt, or already has one, you get a further reduction of $5 (that is, $80 for non-PTA-members and $75 for PTA members)
