Who: Westbriar students in 2^nd through 6^th grades. Beginners who have never played chess before and experienced players!

When: Westbriar Chess Club will be starting on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.  Classes will meet on Tuesdays in the cafeteria from 4:00 – 5:15 PM and will run for 15 weeks.

Why play chess: Chess is great mental exercise for children and involves multi-level critical thinking. Chess improves problem-solving skills and teaches concentration and self discipline. Chess promotes good sportsmanship. Chess is fun!

Who will teach: The Chess Club will be run under the direction of the U.S. Chess Center. The U.S. Chess Center will provide a well trained Chess teacher to teach the basics and advance strategies for the game of chess.

Cost: The cost is $85 ($80 for PTA members) and includes a T-Shirt, light snack every session and a end of the session pizza party.
